Overview

Why wrap instead of paint.

A wrap is reversible. The factory paint stays underneath, protected from UV and light abrasion, and the vehicle can return to original whenever you want.

For a leased vehicle, a wrap is often the only realistic way to change the color, since the car has to go back the way it came. For an owned vehicle, a wrap lets you run a finish you might not commit to permanently, and change your mind in a few years.

Vinyl also opens up finishes that paint cannot easily produce, including satin, matte, brushed metal, carbon fiber, color-shift and textured films.

Quality comes down to disassembly and edges. Handles, badges, lights, mirror caps and trim pieces are removed so film can be wrapped around and behind edges rather than trimmed flush against them. Film cut at the edge is what starts peeling at the car wash six months later.

If a full wrap is more than you want, the same technique applied to trim only is called chrome delete, and it is handled on its own page. Partial coverage — roof, hood, mirrors, pillars — sits between the two and is often the best value of the three.

Worth knowing

The details you notice six months later.

A wrap looks good on day one no matter who installed it. What separates a good install is whether handles and badges came off, whether film was wrapped behind edges instead of cut at them, and whether recesses and complex curves were heated and post-heated properly. That is what determines if it still looks good after a winter.

What to expect

How the process works.

STEP 01

Design Consult

We go over finishes, colors and coverage, and show samples in daylight. Color looks different in a showroom than on a car.

STEP 02

Prep & Disassembly

The vehicle is decontaminated and handles, badges, lights and trim are removed so edges can be wrapped properly.

STEP 03

Installation

Film is laid, heated and formed to the vehicle's contours, then post-heated so it holds in recesses and around curves.

STEP 04

Reassembly & Inspection

Trim goes back on, edges and seams are inspected, and we cover care instructions before you take it home.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How long does a vinyl wrap last?

A professionally installed quality wrap typically lasts several years. Garage-kept vehicles do better than ones parked outside year-round, and horizontal surfaces like the roof and hood weather faster than vertical panels.

Will a wrap damage my paint?

On healthy factory paint, no. Vinyl actually shields the paint underneath from UV and light abrasion. Wrapping over previously repainted panels carries more risk, because a poorly bonded repaint can lift during removal. We check paint condition before quoting.

Can you wrap a car with existing damage?

Vinyl conforms to the surface beneath it, so dents, chips and peeling clear coat show through and can cause the film to fail early. Damaged areas should be repaired first, which we handle in-house.

How do I wash a wrapped car?

Hand wash with a pH-neutral soap. Avoid automatic tunnel washes with spinning brushes, which can catch and lift edges. Avoid pressure washing directly at seams and edges. We go over care specifics at pickup.

Do you do satin and matte wraps?

Yes. Satin, matte, brushed metal, carbon fiber, color-shift and textured films are all available. These are finishes that are difficult or very expensive to achieve in paint, and they are one of the main reasons people choose a wrap over a repaint.

Can you wrap just the roof or hood?

Yes, and it is one of the highest-impact options for the money. A gloss black roof or carbon-fiber hood changes how the whole vehicle reads without the cost of full coverage.
